SHRIMP DUMPLINGS

Don't be intimidated! You can have delicious dumplings in under an hour with just a few ingredients. Do it!

SHRIMP DUMPLINGS

Makes: 18 dumplings

Note: You can find dumpling wrappers at most specialty Asian supermarkets. 
  • 1/2 pound raw shrimp, peeled, de-veined and patted dry
  • 1 teaspoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped bamboo shoots
  • Dumpling wrappers
  1. Slice shrimp in half and smash down with the side of your knife so it forms a paste.
  2. Mix everything except the bamboo shoots together until sticky and well combined.
  3. Add the chopped bamboo shoots, and mix everything together. Cover and refrigerate if assembling dumplings later.
  4. To assemble dumplings, scoop a spoonful of filling into the center of the wrapper and wet the top half of the edge with water. Crimp into pleats until an edge forms and then wet the other half and press together. This video is v helpful for your first time. 
  5. Set up a steamer over simmering water and steam dumplings for 6-8 minutes over high heat. Once translucent and cooked through, remove carefully and serve hot with soy sauce!
